Categories: Pam's Blog, 234 wordsSend feedback •While chatting with Suzanne James one day I lamented about the fact that my novels didn’t fit anywhere. Though deemed romantic fiction they are too steamy & gritty for the CBA market and too spiritual for the ABA market.
“There should be a genre for misfits,” I commented.
“There is,” she answered. “It’s called INDI.”
Like most people, until that day I had no idea what INDI meant in the publishing world, but that conversation certainly opened my eyes.
INDI is any book that is published outside of normal or traditional means. This includes Self and Epublished as well as books published by Independent (translated small) publishing houses.
Both of my novels Tempered Hearts & Tempered Dreams which were initially published in Dec. 2000 and June 2001 (respectively) by Writers Exchange Epublishing Co are considered INDI novels.
Since their debut, my entire Tempered series has been contracted by ComStar Media, an Independent Publishing Company out of Salem, Oregon. Tempered Hearts and Tempered Dreams were edited, revised and re-released in November 2005 thereby maintaining the status of INDI novels. Book 3 in the Tempered series is set for release December 2006 and book 4, Tempered Joy will be released in 2007.
