Welcome To Self Promotion

Many authors I talk with don't want to promote their books. I'm sorry to tell you this, but author have to promote their books. It would be nice if our books sold themselves, but it doesn't work that way and especially in the beginning. On this blog and on the Self Promotion article pages, we'll talk about ways to promote our books.

What's the purpose of writing books if few people ever get a chance to read them? I love to get messages from people who read one of my books. Their feedback is appreciated and encouraged.

We'll talk about promoting online, with a website, in the real world and how to develop a marketing mindset and much more. We'll talk soon...

Before I came within shouting distance of a finished novel, I thought publishers handled promotion. Boy was that naive. I guess it proves that I watched too many episodes of Murder She Wrote :)

Now with two book out and a third on the way, I'm always looking for efficient and effective ways to handle what I never knew would be as important as writing - promotion.

Thanks for starting this blog and providing a forum for sharing ideas.

Wouldn't it be nice if publishers did all the promo for us? So, we have Jessica Fletcher to thank for this misconception -- who knew :)
