My husband and I spent this past weekend in Louisville, Kentucky.  Russ is into guns and decided we should try out luck selling our three books at a Gun Show.

Now usually people sell guns, ammo, hunting items like turkey calls, camo clothing, gun accessories like holsters, knives, and things like that at gun shows.  But we were going to be different and sell books. And the books were not about guns or hunting.  Probably the closest we came is that Unsung Patriot mentions World War I and the founding of The Stars and Stripes newspaper.

Now you might wonder why I went along with this.  It was the promise of three great meals in Louisville.  Since the best restaurant in our town is Pizza Hut, the idea of three gourmet meals had real appeal for me.

So there we are on Saturday morning sitting at our booth with our books amidst all the gun related items.  And we are both thinking, "This was a mistake."  But the booth didn't cost that much and we were there so what else was there to do but to try to sell some books?

Now I had brought along my laptop because the hotel clerk had told me over the phone that wireless internet was available throughout the hotel.  If nothing else, I thought, I'd get some work done.  Wrong.  What the clerk meant was:  By the time I dealt with their version of wireless internet, I'd really appreciate dial-up service.  They offered wireless that went from very low to no service to very low to none constantly.  It was almost impossible to maintain a signal long enough to do anything.

As the day progressed we did get to hand out some information and talk to some very nice people.  And by the end of two days we had sold enough books to pay for the booth and to make a profit.  Both Russ and I were amazed.  And we did have a great time.
