I am a retired attorney and have written two books of short stories about the animals that I have known and how they have helped me overcome cancer and depression. I live in south central Kentucky on a farm with my wife, Virginia, and six horses, 2 dogs and 5 cats. I am at work on my third book, Streetwise, which is memories of growing up in Newark, NJ, in the 1940s and 50s.
Tears and Tales is a collection of eleven short stories that tell how different animals have helped me overcome problems in my life. Some animals, like Nikki, helped me overcome the depression and anger associated with colon cancer. Krazy Duck helped me grow up. Lucky helped me escape from a dominating mother.
The Horse with the Golden Mane is a collection of three stories. Eric is about the bond between a Doberman and a survivor of a Nazi concentration camp. It's a true story. Taj is about our attempt to rescue a horse that was claimed from us. The Horse with the Golden Mane is the story of a man's obsessive love for his missing wife and how he believes training an unruly horse will bring her back.
