I am a reluctant author with some computer skills. I have written one book which took me ten years. I love my family which includes a husband, two grown children and six grandchildren. I live on a farm in rural Kentucky with six horses, five cats and two dogs, most of whom are rescued animals. I do lots of reading and my husband and I travel, both for pleasure and to promote our books at bookfairs.
Unsung Patriot is about my grandfather. He founded and was the first officer-in-charge and first editor-in-chief of The Stars and Stripes, the newspaper for our armed forces. He was a dynamic, complex man, who died before I was born. I wrote the book to try to find out just who my grandfather was since I grew up hearing lots of stories about him, all different. When I came across "The Viskniskki Manuscript" (his memoirs of the time he spent in France during WWI getting the newspaper going), it seemed like I should write about those experiences. From what I have gathered from the few months the book has been out, this is information that no one else has. So the book is a combination of family stories and my grandfather's memoirs. I am very proud that The Stars and Stripes is still operating on my grandfather's founding principles.
