Sooner or later the day will come when it's time to decide whether writing is a hobby or a profession. Lots of us do spare time writing, which isn't taken seriously by anyone, and sometimes not even by ourselves.
But for most of us, if we want to write, that soon gets frustrating and we dream of the day when we can make money and be respected for making money from writing.
