Novel writing is far and away the most exhausting work I know. The trick to novel writing is maintaining faith in yourself as a writer and of the importance of what you are doing. Like I said, novel writing is tough work. The problem with novel writing is that you have to put a significant amount of work into each of your projects. If one pushes the definition far enough, most historical novel writing is to some degree fantasy, because you're making a lot up. The questions are: Can I write a novel that will be published? Do publishers really accept manuscripts from new authors? Can I become a full time author? The answer to all of these is 'yes' - and 'no.'
